The first.

It has been on my mental couch with its feet up for about a year now, making itself comfy with my uncomfortableness. The best way to get it to put its shoes on and leave is to do this–write.

So thank you if you’re here, fully reading or simply browsing.

This is the first time I’m striking out on my own with my writing. I don’t have a plan. I don’t have an editor to hide behind or anyone else to back me up, so this is scary. But it’s mine.

I’m an English-major-turned-marketer and tutor who loves cats, coffee, and sparkles. And no, not all at once, because that would be a mess.

This blog might be messy, too. I’m using it to find my voice and find my happiness in writing again–without being indebted to someone else.

I’m taking the advice I give to my tutoring students: “Just write something down. Start writing.” Here I go!

I won’t promise perfection, but I can promise too many commas, dashes, and honesty. And I already feel better. I think it crept out of my living room, put its coffee cup in the sink, and walked out the door with a smile.
