Coffee thoughts #1

This is my first ‘coffee thoughts’ post. I’ll try to do these frequently–quick, little freewrites to perk up my writing first thing in the morning. Hopefully it’s entertaining for you!

How do you know when it’s time to change?

If you’re lying in bed, feeling like the weight of all your past choices is crashing down on you, it’s probably time for a change.

If you’re feeling like the book on the bottom of your nightstand pile that you keep meaning to read, but have never opened the cover, it’s time for a change.

I’ve been the bottom book on the pile quite a few times. And it got exhausting.

I learned it’s better to at least make it to the coveted second spot in the pile. The one brimming with promise and unread words.

Becoming the second book takes time, and a hell of a lot of effort. Second-book status doesn’t just fall into place. Learning that you’re worth that (and so much more) is a freeing, beautiful thing.

More on this later…I have to leave for work!
